CBSE Group A B C Tier 2 Exam 2026 Overview
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the official Tier 2 exam date notice on 7th March 2026 through its official website https://www.cbse.gov.in/. The Tier 2 examination covers 124 posts across Group A, B, and C categories, including roles such as Assistant Secretary, Accounts Officer, Superintendent, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Accountant, and Junior Assistant. According to the official notice issued on March 6, the Tier-II exams will be conducted on April 18, April 19, 25 April, and April 26, 2026, in multiple sessions depending on the post applied for. Details regarding exam city, examination centre, and admit card will be released on the official CBSE website in April 2026. Shortlisted candidates who qualified Tier 1 should visit cbse.gov.in regularly for admit card and centre-related notifications.

CBSE Group A B C Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification:
- Assistant Secretary: Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University or Institution
- Asst. Professor & Asst. Director (Academics / Training / Skill Education): Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with minimum 55% marks from a recognised University (relaxation applicable to reserved categories); B.Ed./M.Ed., NET/SLET, or Doctorate desirable
- Accounts Officer: Bachelor's degree with Economics / Commerce / Accounts / Finance / Business Studies / Cost Accounting as a subject; OR MBA (Finance) / Chartered Accountant / ICWA
- Superintendent: Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University, along with computer knowledge and typing proficiency
- Junior Assistant: 12th Pass / equivalent with typing speed of 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on computer
- Age Limit: Minimum 18 years. Upper age limits vary by post — 30 years for Assistant Professor & Assistant Director posts, and 35 years for Assistant Secretary the overall range is 27–35 years as on the cut-off date. The crucial date for age eligibility is 22nd December 2025.
- Domicile / Residency Requirement: The candidate must be a citizen of India. CBSE Selected candidates shall be posted in any of the offices of the Board, including Regional Offices, Centres of Excellence, and Sub-Regional Offices across India.
- Age Relaxation:
- SC / ST: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- PwBD: As per Government of India rules
- Ex-Servicemen in Group A posts: 5 years; Group B and C posts: deduction of actual military service period from age, subject to conditions.
- Additional Requirements: Computer proficiency is mandatory for Superintendent and Junior Assistant posts. Typing speed is assessed in the Skill Test stage.
CBSE Group A B C Selection Process
- Stage 1 — Tier 1 (Screening):
- Objective (MCQ) type, OMR-based examination
- Total 150 MCQs for 450 marks; duration of 2 hours; 3 marks per correct answer, 1 mark deducted per incorrect answer
- Level: Senior Secondary standard
- Status: Completed — 31 January & 1 February 2026
- Stage 2 — Tier 2 (Main Examination):
- A mix of Objective (OMR-based) and Descriptive (Written) type questions; exam duration is 3 hours; Graduation level
- For Assistant Secretary — 300 marks total: 150 Objective + 150 Descriptive; Interview of 50 marks
- Post-wise schedule: Assistant Secretary and Accounts Officer on April 18 (two shifts); Superintendent and Junior Translation Officer on April 19 (two shifts); Junior Assistant and Junior Accountant on April 26 (two shifts)
- Stage 3 — Skill Test / Interview:
- Group A posts: final Interview will be held; Group C posts like Junior Assistant and Junior Accountant: qualifying Skill Test (typing test)
- Final Merit:
- The final selection list will be based on marks obtained in Tier 2 and the Interview where applicable.
Instructions for Downloading the CBSE Group A B C Tier 2 Exam 2026
- Open the official website: cbse.gov.in
- Go to the "Recruitment" section available in the header navigation menu on the homepage.
- Look for the link titled "Admit Card — CBSE DRQ2026 Tier 2 Examination" and click on it.
- Enter your Application / Registration Number and Date of Birth in the login fields as required.
- Your admit card will appear on screen in PDF format.
- Carefully verify all printed details — your name, roll number, examination centre, exam date, and reporting time.
- If any detail appears incorrect, do not attempt to modify the document. Contact CBSE immediately through the official helpline before the exam date.
- Download and save the PDF on your device and take at least two printed copies for exam day use.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXAM DAY
Candidates appearing for the CBSE Group A, B, C Tier 2 Exam 2026 should note the following:
- Carry the printed admit card to the examination centre without fail. Entry will not be permitted without it.
- Bring a valid government-issued photo ID in original — Aadhaar card, Voter ID, PAN card, Passport, or Driving Licence are accepted.
- Carry one recent passport-size photograph (same as uploaded during the application) in case the invigilator requires it.
- Report at the examination centre at least 60 minutes before the scheduled start time. Late entry may be refused as per CBSE norms.
- Electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside the hall — this includes mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth earphones, programmable calculators, and any digital storage media.
- Do not bring bags, wallets, or loose papers into the examination room. Candidates are advised to leave personal belongings outside or at designated counters if available.
- Dress code: No official dress code has been prescribed, but candidates should dress in comfortable, non-distracting attire. Avoid accessories or clothing that could trigger biometric or security checks.
