PM Kisan Yojana 2026 Overview

The Government of India's Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has officially confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 22nd installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme on 13th March 2026 from Guwahati, Assam. Under this central sector scheme, landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000, transferred directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. Completing eKYC before the payment date is mandatory for all registered farmers to ensure uninterrupted credit.

PM Kisan Yojana BENEFIT DETAILS

• Under this scheme, 100% of funding is provided by the Government of India. The amount is paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 and funds are transferred directly to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

PM Kisan Yojana Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply:

• Indian citizen farmers with cultivable land in their name
• Small and marginal farmers (no upper land ceiling specified for most states)
• Both rural and urban farmers with registered agricultural land
• Primarily designed for farmers actively engaged in agriculture, generally within the age range of 18–40 years 

Who Is NOT Eligible: 

• Former or current holders of constitutional posts
• Former or current Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Mayors
• Officers and employees of Central/State Government (excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Group D/Class IV)
• Income tax payers (last assessment year)
• Professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants registered with professional bodies
• Pensioners receiving ₹10,000 or more per month (excluding Multi-Tasking Staff/Group D)

Other Requirements:

• Aadhaar number must be linked to PM-Kisan registration
• Aadhaar must be seeded (linked) to the bank account receiving payment

BENEFIT DISTRIBUTION / DBT DETAILS

• Financial benefit of ₹6,000 per year is transferred in three equal installments into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode
• Payments are processed in batches — funds may be credited on different days within the announced release window
• Timing of installments often coincides with sowing or input-purchase periods, making it particularly useful for small and marginal landholders
• Bank account must be active and DBT-enabled to receive credit without rejection
• If bank account details have changed, the updated account must be linked to Aadhaar and updated on the PM-Kisan portal before the release date
• Payments that fail due to incorrect bank details or inactive accounts are returned to the treasury and require correction for re-credit

How To Apply PM Kisan Yojana

1. Visit the official portal: Go to pmkisan.gov.in
2. Navigate to Farmers Corner: On the homepage, scroll down and click "New Farmer Registration"
3. Select Registration Type: Choose Rural Farmer Registration or Urban Farmer Registration
4. Enter Aadhaar Details: Input your 12-digit Aadhaar number, select your State, enter the captcha, and click "Search"
5. If farmer details are not found, the page will display confirmation and ask 'if you want to register yourself' — click the 'Yes' tab to proceed
6. Fill in the Registration Form: Enter all personal details, land records, and bank account information accurately
7. Upload Required Documents: Attach land ownership proof, Aadhaar, and bank passbook
8. Submit the Form: Review all entries and click Submit
9. Complete eKYC: Navigate to 'e-KYC' in Farmers Corner, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile, and click Submit — a "Success" message confirms eligibility
10. Save Registration Number: Note or print the registration number for future status checks

PM Kisan Yojana 2026 Verification Process 

1. Land Record Verification: State/UT governments verify ownership details against official land databases (Khasra, Khatauni records)
2. Aadhaar Authentication: Beneficiary's Aadhaar is matched against registration details and bank account seeding
3. eKYC Completion: eKYC is mandatory for all PM-Kisan registered farmers — OTP-based eKYC is available on the PM-Kisan portal, or nearest CSC centres may be contacted for biometric-based eKYC
4. Bank Account Seeding Check: Both Land Seeding and Aadhaar Bank Seeding status must show "YES" on the beneficiary portal
5. Exclusion Filtering: Ineligible categories (taxpayers, government employees, high-income pensioners) are filtered out through cross-verification with Income Tax and other government databases
6. Beneficiary List Publishing: State-wise and village-wise verified beneficiary lists are published on the official portal under the "Beneficiary List" section
7. Final DBT Release: After all verifications, the Ministry of Agriculture releases funds through PFMS (Public Financial Management System) to farmers' bank accounts.
