- Note: The minimum pay of ₹19,900 per month is admissible for the first three years (probation period) from the date of joining. After probation, allowances including Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Conveyance Allowance, and Uniform Allowance apply as per Punjab Government rules.
Punjab Police Constable Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification — Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised Education Board or University. For Ex-Servicemen, Matriculation (10th pass) is sufficient. All qualifications must have been attained on or before 1st January 2026.
- Age Limit — Minimum 18 years and maximum 28 years as on 1st January 2026. In practical terms: born not earlier than 2nd January 1998 and not later than 1st January 2008 (both dates inclusive).
- Mandatory Requirement — Candidates must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or any equivalent examination recognised by the Punjab Government, on or before 1st January 2026. This applies to all candidates without exception.
- Age Relaxation — SC/ST/BC candidates: as per Punjab Government rules. Ex-Servicemen (Punjab residents): actual Armed Forces service period deducted from age; resultant age should not exceed the upper limit by more than 3 years. Serving government employees: upper age limit relaxed to 33 years.
- Nationality / Domicile — Candidates must be citizens of India and must not hold citizenship, permanent residency, or a green card of any other country. All Transgender candidates shall be treated at par with Female candidates for physical standards and tests.
Punjab Police Constable Selection Process
- Stage 1 — Computer-Based Test (CBT): Two papers. Paper-I: 100 marks (objective MCQs covering General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English, Punjabi, Digital Literacy) — determines merit. Paper-II: 50 marks (qualifying Punjabi Language paper, Matriculation standard) — minimum 50% required to pass.
- Stage 2 — Physical Screening Test (PST) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Qualifying in nature. Height and physical fitness measured as per prescribed standards. Candidates not meeting minimum height are disqualified. Pregnant female candidates may request postponement on submission of a medical certificate from a government hospital.
- Stage 3 — Document Verification (DV): Candidates who clear Stage 1 and Stage 2 are called for verification of all original certificates and supporting documents. Candidates unable to produce originals will not be considered for selection.
- Final Merit: Based on marks in CBT Paper-I, subject to qualifying Paper-II and clearing all physical standards.
